Former New York Governor Formally Charged with Sex Crime

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, resigned in disgrace earlier this year, following numerous sexual harassment claims against him. Before Cuomo stepped down from office and was replaced by Kathy Hochul, he maintained his innocence.

The sexual harassment allegations were not Cuomo’s first brush with scandals, either. The former New York governor came under fire after reports broke of him blending COVID-infected individuals with nursing home patients.

Many of the latter died as a result. Rather than taking responsibility for his actions, the then-New York governor simply tried to cover up what he’d done.

On Thursday, news broke that Andrew Cuomo has been formally charged with a sex crime, as documented by Newsmax.

A Closer Look at Charges Against Cuomo

The 63-year-old former governor has been charged with a misdemeanor sex crime called forcible touching. In light of this charge, further reports indicate Cuomo will be taken into custody by authorities next week.

Letitia James, the attorney general of New York (and also a Democrat), noted that months of investigation into Cuomo show he broke state laws and federal laws. Amid news of the misdemeanor sex crime charge the former governor faces, James explained this charge coincides with her office’s findings.

On November 17, Cuomo is expected to appear in court. This court appearance will follow a summons that was issued but currently still remains to be served. Rita Glavin, the attorney working for the former governor, is of course still claiming her client is innocent.

This charge against Cuomo is not going away. There is also the possibility that the former governor could face additional charges; however, there’s no word on that yet. However, as this all plays out, there’s no doubt it will continue to be discussed by the public.

This isn’t something Cuomo can hide, as he attempted to do with the tragic nursing home deaths caused by his own actions.

Sending an Important Message

What’s happening with Andrew Cuomo right now is a result of his own actions. It sends a clear message which is that no one is above the law.

During his governorship, Cuomo clearly believed otherwise. The Democrat believed he was untouchable; this is why he had no issues behaving inappropriately with women. Cuomo’s hubris is also behind his choice to attempt covering up the nursing home deaths he caused.

News about this sex crime charge facing Cuomo is making the rounds all over social media. Some Americans believe this is a long time coming; others are of the view the former governor should face additional charges for previous law-breaking conduct he allegedly engaged in.
