Not long after Joe Biden got into office, the southern border went from being managed to being completely out of control. This is owing to Biden’s choice to remove the Trump-era immigration reforms that kept the border under wraps.
Last March, Biden announced that Vice President Kamala Harris would have the job of fixing problems at the southern border. More than one year later, border troubles are in an even worse state.
Harris has done next to nothing in her role as the southern border czar. When questioned about this, the Biden administration has repeatedly shied away from problems at the border altogether.
However, states like Texas that are uniquely impacted by illegal immigration don’t have the luxury of burying their heads in the sand. This is why Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott is sounding the alarm about the situation, per Breitbart News.
Overwhelming Problems at the Southern Border
During a Fox News interview on Monday, Governor Abbott didn’t hold anything back.
According to the Texas governor, over 1.6 million border crossers in the state have been taken into custody since Biden got in office.
Abbott explained this surpasses the total numbers of folks in San Antonio and Dallas, barring people who managed to evade law enforcement.

Later, the Texas governor warned that if Title 42 is rescinded next month, there will be at least 18,000 more individuals crossing the border on a daily basis. Over the course of one year alone, this would add up to six million border crossers.
Finally, Abbott cautioned that neither Border Patrol, nor the United States as a whole, is in the position to deal with this many people entering the country.
Unique Work From Texas on the Southern Border
As the White House ignores the crisis at the southern border, Texas is hard at work finding solutions.
Governor Abbott’s administration continues working with Mexican authorities to reach an understanding that will reduce the number of border crossers.
On top of this, Texas has taken the liberty of bussing illegal immigrants who enter the state over to Washington DC.
Looks like states in Mexico are working to uphold their end of the agreement that Texas reached with them to better secure their side of the border.

Abbott previously precautioned the federal government that he would take this measure if they didn’t stop illegal immigration from happening in the state. However, the Biden administration simply laughed this off and accused Abbott of staging a publicity stunt.
The Texas governor has been joined by both Republicans and Democrats alike in calling for Title 42 to remain operational.
However, in spite of this policy’s bipartisan support, the Biden administration continues to indicate its plan to let Title 42 expire towards the end of May.
