Texas Leans Strongly Republican in New Governor’s Race Poll

For quite some time, Democrats have been trying to flip Texas into a blue state. They strained to make this happen during the 2020 presidential election; however, despite much campaigning, Democrats failed to stop the Lone Star State from going in Donald Trump’s column.

During this year, though, Democrats are renewing their efforts to get control of Texas. Months ago, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez declared it’s only a matter of time before the Lone Star State is blue.

The Democratic congresswoman also claimed once her party takes Texas, it’ll be able to take the rest of America.

Meanwhile, in Texas, there is absolutely no sign of the state flipping blue anytime soon. In fact, as reported by Breitbart News, a recent gubernatorial election poll shows GOP Gov. Greg Abbott well on his way to defeating Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke.

A Glimpse Into the Future of Texas

Following May 2022’s horrific shooting in Uvalde, Beto O’Rourke attempted to use this tragedy for his own political advancement. The Texas Democrat even crashed a press conference that Abbott and Uvalde officials were having in the wake of the massacre.

However, polling taken last month shows that O’Rourke is nevertheless behind Abbott in the polls, just as he always has been. CBS/YouGov reveals the incumbent governor carries 49% support, whereas O’Rourke trails behind with just 41%.

Part of what’s hurting the latter is his consistent underwater polling with Texas Independent voters. With only Texas Democrats rooting for him, O’Rourke doesn’t stand a chance of seriously competing against Abbott, let alone getting into the governor’s mansion.

Across multiple demographics (including women, men, younger voters, etc.), Abbott leads the Democrat who desperately wants his job.

Another Election Loss For O’Rourke?

In 2018, Beto O’Rourke ran an unsuccessful campaign to represent Texas in the United States Senate. This was followed by his failed 2020 run in the Democratic primary.

At this rate, O’Rourke appears well on his way to facing another crushing defeat. As it turns out, much of the way he runs his campaign has been criticized.

Earlier this year, the Texas Democrat asserted himself as a supporter of the Second Amendment, notwithstanding his previous remarks opposing concealed carry and endorsing forced gun buybacks.

Critics of O’Rourke believe he will say anything to win an election. As it turns out, more Texas voters than not see this as disingenuous and aren’t too eager to vote for it.

Thus far, O’Rourke’s shown no willingness to alter his policies, messaging, or campaigning styles. Therefore, Americans can reasonably expect that he will not be the next governor of Texas.
