The Dalai Lama Apologizes After Shocking Viral Video of Child Abuse

The Dalai Lama is seen in an offensive clip urging an underaged child in India to “suck his tongue” as it circulates online.

The incident in question took place in Dharamshala at the beginning of February; although the footage has only lately become popular online.

The Dalai Lama formally stated that the clip is genuine. He apologized for his behavior after many people on the internet initially thought it was a potential deep fake.

In his statement of sorrow, the Tibetan spiritual leader said he regrets his behavior. Then, he claimed he would like to offer an apology to the child and his relatives, in addition to all of his companions across the globe for any harm that his remarks may have inflicted.

His Holiness frequently teases persons he encounters in a casual and humorous way, even when public and in front of cameras, the Dalai Lama’s administration noted with the statement.

The Associated Press reported the Dalai Lama, a spiritual figure in Tibet, expressed regret on Monday following backlash to an online clip depicting him kissing a young kid on the lips.

They continued by stating the 87-year-old leader expressed remorse for the event in an announcement on his official web page.

They explained the event happened in February during a large assembly at the banished leader’s temple in Dharamsala, the Tsuglakhang temple. When the youngster requested to give him a hug, he was answering comments from those in attendance.

The Dalai Lama previously generated controversy in 2011 when he declared himself to be a Marxist.

Dalai Lama Apologizes

According to Buddhism, even if the Buddha himself crafts an apology, it is not yet complete until the person who received it graciously accepts it and gives something their forgiveness in return.

Neither the boy nor his family has been heard from since the apology was issued.
