Separatists Submit 302,000 Signatures To LEAVE WOKE CANADA…

A movement to separate oil-rich Alberta from Canada reached a major milestone as organizers delivered over 300,000 signatures demanding an independence referendum, signaling growing discontent with federal policies in Canada’s energy heartland.

Petition Delivered to Provincial Officials

On May 4th, 2026, Alberta independence advocate Mitch Sylvester announced the submission of 301,620 signatures to Elections Alberta’s Edmonton office. Hundreds of supporters gathered outside the government building to witness the historic delivery. The petition calls for an October referendum on whether the province should pursue independence from Canada. Organizers collected signatures throughout the province’s harsh winter months, demonstrating sustained grassroots support for the cause rather than a temporary political movement.

What the Numbers Reveal

The signature count represents approximately 17 percent of voters who participated in Alberta’s most recent provincial election. This percentage demonstrates substantial support across the province, particularly given the challenging conditions under which organizers gathered support. The petition’s success occurred during Alberta’s coldest months, when door-to-door canvassing and public gathering prove most difficult. Political analysts note that movements achieving this level of participation typically reflect deeper concerns about governance and regional representation within federal systems.

Constitutional and Legal Obstacles Ahead

If voters approve independence in a referendum, Alberta would face complex negotiations with Canada’s federal government. Constitutional lawyers predict multiple legal challenges to any separation process. Indigenous groups hold treaty rights and land claims that would require resolution before independence could proceed. These groups have indicated they would file court challenges to block separation, arguing their agreements exist with the Canadian federal government rather than provincial authorities. The legal pathway to independence would require years of litigation and negotiation even with majority voter support.

Energy Politics Fuel Independence Movement

Alberta contains Canada’s vast oil reserves and energy infrastructure, making it the nation’s economic powerhouse. Supporters of independence cite federal environmental regulations and energy policies they view as harmful to provincial prosperity. Some separatists have expressed interest in Alberta joining the United States rather than forming an independent nation, though this represents a minority position within the movement. The province’s energy sector drives much of the separatist sentiment, with workers and industry leaders frustrated by policies they believe favor other Canadian provinces at Alberta’s expense.

  1. The compacts between the tribes in Alberta with the Canadian federal government can and should be switched to Alberta in the event Albertans approve the separation from Canada. Would Alberta be a new country or would this province ask for admission to the U. S.? If Alberta becomes an American territory these tribal compacts can be with the U.S. federal government. If Alberta desires admission to the U.S. and this happens Alberta would likely become our 51st state. This would strengthen the U. S. sports teams that compete in all of the international sports competitions and weaken Canada’s teams. Should Calgary remain in the Canadian Football League after Alberta leaving Canada this league would again have a team outside of Canada? For a few years this league had teams in U.S. cities.

  2. Calgary and Edmonton staying in the Canadian Football League with Alberta exiting Canada would have two teams outside of Canada. In my first comment I by mistake forgot to mention Edmonton the other city in Alberta with a C F L team.
